The School Sports Network Building Collaboration

Today’s education system is all about Autonomy, Accountability and Austerity. Our schools are therefore becoming more isolated and looking inwards on themselves. As such the School Sports Network continues to offer connectivity, partnership and collaboration that is truly needed if the PE and Sporting opportunities for all our young people are to be realised.

The integrity of our network is a collective responsibility and we value our partner schools support. We aim to achieve the highest quality in all that we do and this continues to be key to our success and why schools want to be part of the Gloucester School Sports Network.

It is our challenge to build pathways into sport for all our young people and thus encourage a lifetime of physical activity. The network offers a wide range of activities to inspire our young people to see that physical activity is for them all.

Our key priorities are;

1. Building and supporting the establishment of working Networks which link our schools together – sharing good practice.

2. Continual Professional Development for all involved in the delivery of PE and School Sport – upskill and build confidence.

3. To provide Specialist Curriculum Support – Multi Skill, Gymnastics, Dance, Games.

4. To extend and develop a wide range of Competitive Opportunities.

5. To provide Performance Platforms – Dance, Cheerleading.

6. To develop additional opportunities for participation –Key Stage 1 Festivals, Multi Skill Events.

7.  Sports Leadership opportunities for students of all ages – developing life and employability skills.

The School Games

The School Games has motivated and inspired thousands of our young people to be the best that they can be. Their aspirations have been raised and many ambitions achieved. But we all know that achievement on the field is only made possible with the right support off the field. The hard work, passion, and commitment of all those involved is second to none and I should personally like to thank all Head Teachers, Teachers, Assistants, Coaches and the many Volunteers who have made this opportunity possible.
